“Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.” I John 4:15-16
The nature and character of Christ is abiding love. (Luke 6:27-38) Those who say they belong to God, believers in His Son and atonement, must demonstrate the fruit of His Spirit. He is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness and gentleness. He is unfailing faithfulness and enduring love.
Sin is destructive and separates us from God. Salvation is forgiveness and deliverance from sin. Jesus paid a ransom for our sins with His atoning blood. Because of Calvary, we can be free from guilt and shame. With redemption comes healing and restoration.
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation: old things are passed away; behold, all things are made new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
Jesus said the first and greatest commandment is to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” And He said the second commandment is like it: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Sincere love cares for everyone and compassionately prays for all. Followers of Christ cover themselves with His truth and walk in His light. “Instead clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, and do not obey your flesh and its desires.” (Romans 13:14)
Love matters!
“…though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love I am nothing. Love suffers long and is kind: Love does not envy: love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. LOVE NEVER FAILS.” 1 Corinthians 13:2b-8a
